1947 – 1958
In 1947 Alpi Viaggi, a small travel agency in Cuneo specialising in organising tourist coach and train trips, is founded. In the years that followed, the company began to manage the first trains and buses for special events, such as the Holy Year in Rome in 1950, the World Cup in Switzerland in 1954 and the Universal Exhibition in Brussels in 1958.
1960 – 1970
Alpitour launches in Italy all-inclusive packages and leisure flights to more exotic destinations such as the Maldives, Mauritius and Madagascar
1980 – 1990
In the 1980s, Alpitour installed modern IBM 38s, connected to 30 video terminals, to manage the multitude of data processed. In 1985, it introduced EasyBook, a new booking platform for travel agencies.
1990 – 2000
Francorosso, Viaggidea and Jumbo Tours are acquired, and Alpitour becomes the first Group in Tour Operating in Italy. The Welcome Travel Group network is created.
2000 – 2016
The hotel and aviation divisions are developed; VOIhotels and Neos are created.
In 2012 a new shareholding structure comes into being: Wise SGR Spa and J. Hirsch & Co acquire the Group from Exor.
Between 2014 and 2016 the Group expands, thanks to new acquisitions: Swantour, Presstour and Sardegna.com.
2017 – 2019
In 2017, Tamburi Investment Partners S.p.A. joins as a new partner, allowing international expansion with offices in France, China, America and Spain.
Thanks to the acquisition of Eden Viaggi in 2018, an Italian maxi-tourism hub is born, accompanied by the entry of BOEING 787-9 DREAMLINER in the Neos fleet.
In 2019, the VRetreats collection is created and 2 new hotels in Taormina are acquired. Neos expands the fleet with 2 additional Boeing 787-9 DREAMLINER
2020-2022
In 2020, the world comes to a standstill due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the Group lends aid by repatriating over 40,000 people and providing aid with 350 humanitarian flights.
Tour Operating is reorganised with the TREVOLUTION project and the inNOVA technology project is launched.
Eden Viaggi and Press&Swan are merged into Alpitour S.p.A, Alpitour is back on tv with a new campaign ‘Io in un villaggio mai’.
2023 - 2025
The Hotel Division continues to grow and Neos introduces new routes. Tamburi Investment Partners S.p.A. increases its shareholding.
