1947
The company is established as Alpi Viaggi, a small travel agency based in Cuneo providing tourist services by coach and train.
1950-1958
Alpi organises the first trains and buses for special events, such as the Holy Year in Rome in 1950, the Football World Cup in Switzerland in 1954, the World Expo in Brussels in 1958.
1960-1970
Alpitour inaugurates a new holiday model, with the launch in Italy of all-inclusive packages and charter flights to increasingly exotic destinations such as the Maldives, Mauritius and Madagascar.
1980-1990
Alpitour is the first company to install the modern and sophisticated IBM 38, connected to 30 video terminals that allow millions of data and information to be processed.
In 1985 was born EasyBook, an industry-changing booking platform serving the operational efficiency of travel agencies, created with superior technologies and collaborative systems that will also be an important distinguishing asset for the future years.
1990-2000
With the acquisition of Francorosso, Viaggidea and Jumbo Tours, Alpitour becomes the first tour operating group in Italy. Thus, an increasingly industrial architecture takes shape, becoming the first integrated tourism reality in our country.
The Welcome Travel Group is established.
2000-2010
The hotel and aviation divisions are developed. VOIhotels, the Group's hotel chain, and Neos, which in just a few years has become the second Italian airline symbol of excellence among carriers specialising in tourist routes and with the youngest fleet in Europe, are established.
2010-2020
A new shareholding structure comes to life: Wise SGR spa and J. Hirsch & Co. buy the Group from Exor. Geo network is acquired.
Between 2014 and 2016 the Group expands thanks to new acquisitions: Swantour, Presstour and Sardegna.com.
2017 is the year of the entry of a new partner, Tamburi Investment Partners Spa, which accelerates the Group's growth and innovation path, injects new capital and allows it to open up to foreign markets, with offices in France, China, America and Spain.
In 2018 the acquisition of Eden Viaggi gives rise to a maxi Italian tourism hub based on quality, service, innovation and technology. An advanced group thanks to the entry of the BOEING 787 DREAMLINER in the fleet of neos.
2019 saw the birth of Utravel, the Group's first start-up created by a team of young recent graduates as part of Alpitour's Graduate Program, the programme for the placement of young and future managers in the company. Today Utravel has become a benefit company, formalising its commitment to responsible tourism, in which discovery and respect are the basis of travel.
2020-2022
In 2020 the world comes to a standstill due to one of the most serious pandemics in history. The Group lends its aid to communities, repatriating more than 40,000 compatriots from 68 countries around the world and delivering more than 8,000 tonnes of aid with 350 dedicated humanitarian flights. In this context, the Group not only demonstrates its resilience, giving continuity to its work and business, but also confirms its investment plans. Tour Operating is reorganised thanks to the TREVOLUTION project; VRetreats is born, the collection of hotels dedicated to the international luxury segment; the inNOVA project is launched, a programme of simplification and technological development.
In 2021 Alpitour World decrees its market leadership as the largest integrated tourism company in Italy with the merger of Eden Viaggi and Press&Swan into Alpitour Spa. The following year, the Alpitour seagull makes its return in communication and Alpitour World renews its logo and corporate narrative, to tell of its endless transformations and future goals.
2023 is an important year: the financial year closes with an aggregate turnover of EUR 2.4 billion; the IT area continues its development through inNOVA, AI and Revenue Management projects; Neos inaugurates new routes and continues its fleet renewal process; VOIhotels invests more than EUR 21 million in extraordinary measures and acquisitions.
