Seventeen VOIhotels facilities in Italy have obtained GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) certification, which promotes sustainability and social responsibility in the tourism sector, with the aim of maximising its benefits and minimising its impact.
The internationally recognised GSTC certification, recognised by the UN and based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, requires evaluation by independent third parties, to guarantee compliance with environmental, social and economic criteria.
This approach values the local area, culture and local products, works to reduce consumption and waste, promotes recycling and intervenes on multiple aspects aimed at protecting the planet.
What is GSTC?
The Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) is a non-profit organization established by the UNDP (The United Nations Development Program) and the UN Tourism that operates independently to define standards for sustainable development in tourism and the travel sector globally.
This organization has created the international GSTC certification, the most important guideline in the tourism sector for anyone looking to seriously pursue the path of sustainability.
Who can issue this certification?
Among the Certification Bodies for the evaluation of compliance with the parameters defined by GSTC, VOIhotels has selected the international Certification Body Dream&Charme, accredited ISO 17065 by Accredia and IAF in 104 countries.
Accredia is the sole national accreditation body designated by the Italian Government, in accordance with European Regulation 765/2008, to attest to the competence, independence, and impartiality of certification, inspection, and verification bodies.
Accredia is a recognized association that operates on a non-profit basis, under the supervision of the Ministry of Economic Development.
